
SARASOTA, FL – One person was killed and another injured in a fiery crash in Sarasota early Sunday morning, according to WWSB.
The accident happened in the vicinity of Stickney Point Road and Midnight Pass Road at about 12:40 a.m. Investigators said a driver headed west on Stickney Point Road did not stop while trying to make a left turn against a red light. The vehicle slammed into a pole and caught fire.
The driver and passenger were rushed to Sarasota Memorial Hospital. The driver, a 28-year-old Sarasota man, was pronounced dead at the hospital. The passenger, whose identity was not released, was listed in critical condition.
Police are continuing to investigate the crash.
