
SOUTH BRADENTON, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol reports a driver was killed in a pickup truck accident in Manatee County Thursday night.
According to WWSB, the 65-year-old man drove the pickup out of the parking lot of Cortez Village Plaza at about 11:30 p.m. Investigators said he went across the travel lanes of Cortez Road West, onto a shoulder and down an embankment before the vehicle ended up in a drainage ditch.
The driver, a Bradenton resident, sustained fatal injuries in the crash. His name was not immediately released. The victim was not wearing a seat belt, troopers said.
