
POLK COUNTY, FL – Authorities reported the death of a man whose car crashed near a Polk County rest stop, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the 39-year-old Wesley Chapel resident passed away Feb. 24, one day after the accident on Interstate 4. His name was not released.
Investigators said the victim was driving westbound on I-4 shortly before 9:30 p.m. when he went off the road while approaching a rest stop entrance ramp. The car went down an embankment before entering a ditch, hitting a tree and overturning.
The driver was transported to an area hospital where he died of his injuries.
