Driver injured after van crashes into drainage ditch on Tampa Rd

PALM HARBOR, FL – A man suffered serious injuries following a crash on Tampa Rd near St. George Dr Thursday afternoon, according to IONTB.

The driver, a 39-year-old man, was driving a van on westbound Tampa Rd. As he approached Lake St. George Drive, he lost control of his vehicle due to the wet roadway. The van rotated, went off-road, through a handrail, before finally slamming into a drainage ditch.

Emergency crews arrived on the scene around 2:55 p.m. and hospitalized the man.

Authorities have not yet released the name of the victim.
