BROOKSVILLE, FL – State troopers say a man was killed when his car went off a highway in Hernando County and crashed late Thursday night.
The Suncoast News reports the accident happened on U.S. 41 near Oliver Street shortly before 11 p.m. The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver was a 34-year-old Spring Hill resident who lost control of his sedan while driving southbound. The car went onto a shoulder of the highway, started to rotate, and then struck a water main and its surrounding poles as well as a utility pole.
The driver, whose identity was not released, was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The cause of the crash was not yet known.
