
ST. PETERSBURG, FL – Two people were injured in a head-on collision on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge Sunday, according to WESH.
Kristen Kay Watts, 52, was driving a BMW at excessive speeds on I-275 when she drove through a road closure put in place for a 10 K race on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge.
Police intervened and she crashed head-on into a patrol vehicle. First responders transported Watts and the trooper to an area hospital with serious injuries.
Watts has been charged with DUI serious injury.
