HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL – State troopers say a truck driver who ran a red light caused a fatal crash in Hillsborough County Tuesday morning, reports the Tampa Bay Times.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the 24-year-old driver of a tree service truck went through the light in the area of U.S. 41 and Sunset Lane at about 9:15 a.m. The vehicle slammed into a car driven by a 79-year-old woman, which then struck another car that was at the intersection.

The woman, a resident of Lutz, was rushed to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead. The truck driver and his two passengers, all from Tampa, were not hurt. The driver of the third vehicle, a 68-year-old Land O’Lakes man, sustained minor injuries.
