HAINES CITY, FL – Police say an elderly driver died after her car was involved in a collision with another vehicle in Monday morning.
According to the Lakeland Ledger, the victim was identified as 77-year-old Lois Mann. She was driving a Kia Miro on U.S. 27 in Haines City when the accident occurred at about 9:30 a.m. Investigators say Mann crashed into a Nissan Rogue in front of her that was making a turn onto South Boulevard.
The impact caused Mann’s vehicle to travel about 150 feet, and she was found unresponsive at the scene. Mann, a Davenport resident, was pronounced dead at Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center.
The other driver, 20-year-old Julyana Gonzalez Santana, was taken to the same hospital with a broken leg.
Police said it did not appear that driver impairment was a contributing factor in the crash.
