DUNEDIN, FL – The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said an elderly woman was hospitalized following a pedestrian accident in Dunedin last week, reports the Tampa Bay Times.

The incident happened at the intersection of Broadway and Main Street Thursday evening at about 6 p.m. 79-year-old Sandra Flint was struck by an Autonomous Vehicle Advantage, or “AVA”, that is currently being tested in Pinellas County.

She sustained injuries that were not life-threatening, and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

City officials said the vehicle was being driven by a person at the time of the incident. Investigators are reviewing footage from the vehicle’s cameras for clues as to what may have caused the crash, and AVA service was temporarily paused.

The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority has been testing the use of the autonomous vehicles recently to elicit feedback from the public.
