
WINSTON, FL – A motorist died Wednesday afternoon following a car crash and vehicle fire on westbound I-4 just outside of Lakeland.
According to the Tampa Bay Times , the fatal crash took place on I-4 near mile marker 28 at around 1:40 p.m.
The driver lost control of his car and struck a tree, which caused the vehicle to ignite. Responding authorities pronounced the driver dead at the crash scene.
Speed may have been a factor in the cause of the crash.
