According to the Bradenton Herald, 29-year-old Isaiah Devon Washington is facing charges in connection with the incident that took place shortly after midnight on Monday.
The Florida Highway Patrol said Washington was behind the wheel of a Mazda sedan when he struck the skateboard rider on 15th Street East near 26th Avenue East. Washington and the victim were both headed south on the street at the time, troopers said.
The skateboarder was hospitalized in critical condition at Blake Medical Center. The person’s age and name were not released.
