TAMPA, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a Tampa man passed away after being struck by a car on an Interstate 275 exit ramp last week, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
The 58-year-old victim died of his injuries at a hospital on Friday. The FHP said he was walking on the shoulder of the northbound I-275 ramp near E. Fletcher Avenue on Tuesday at about 4:20 p.m. He was hit by a northbound car driven by an 84-year-old woman who had suffered a medical emergency, troopers said. The woman, a Lutz resident, then hit a roadway sign.
No details were available on the condition of the driver, who was wearing a seatbelt when the crash occurred. The names of the pedestrian and the driver were not released.
