
LAKELAND, FL – The Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a deadly crash in Lakeland early Wednesday morning, The Ledger reports.
The accident happened on Lake Alfred Road between Bolender Road and Adams Barn Road at about 3 a.m. According to investigators, a man driving Saturn Ion lost control of the vehicle while coming around a curve. The car slammed into a concrete pole.
The driver, identified as 56-year-old Danny Hawthorne of Auburndale, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities shut down Lake Alfred Road for about four hours while investigators processed the crash scene.
