TAMPA, FL – A man was struck and killed yesterday evening by a driver who lost control of his SUV in a curve on I-75 on the city’s northside, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The fatal collision happened near the interchange to southbound Bruce B. Downs Boulevard shortly before 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

A pickup truck was parked behind a car in the southbound shoulder the vehicles’ three occupants stood alongside. They were subsequently hit by an SUV whose 19-year-old driver failed to navigate a turn.

The car’s occupant, a 52-year-old Maryland man, was killed as a result of the collision.

The pickup’s 33-year-old passenger was seriously hurt, while its 25-year-old driver received only minor injuries. Both men are residents of nearby Ruskin.

The SUV’s driver and his 21-year old passengers, both Michigan residents, suffered minor injuries.

Investigations are ongoing.
