
SARASOTA COUNTY, FL – State troopers said a motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a school bus in Sarasota County, WTSP reports.
The 24-year-old victim was riding in the area of Turtle Avenue and 22nd Street when the incident occurred Wednesday at about 2:30 p.m. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the motorcycle rider was speeding on Tuttle Avenue and could not slow down in time as the bus was making a turn. The motorcycle hit the rear right corner of the bus and the rider suffered fatal injuries.
Troopers said neither the 71-year-old school bus driver nor the 27 high school students on board were injured in the crash.
Authorities advised motorists to avoid the area while the FHP was investigating the crash.
