
ST. PETERSBURG, FL – A man was killed when his motorcycle was involved in a crash on a street in St. Petersburg Monday afternoon, according to WTSP.
The victim was identified as 27-year-old Gregg Johnson Jr. Police said he was riding in the area of 18th Avenue S. and 34th Street S. when the accident occurred at about 4:35 p.m. An 80-year-old man driving a car was making a turn onto 18th Avenue S. when he turned into Johnson’s path, investigators said. The motorcycle hit the man’s car, then struck another car and caught fire. Johnson was ejected from the bike and taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The 80-year-old driver sustained minor injuries. Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
