HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL – State troopers say a motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a car in Hillsborough County Monday morning, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver of a sedan was trying to pass other cars while going north on Paul Buchman Highway shortly before 6 a.m.  The vehicle entered the southbound lane and crashed into the motorcycle nearly head-on near County Line Road.

The 40-year-old motorcycle rider, a Zephyrills resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The FHP said the victim was not wearing a helmet when the crash occurred.  The 52-year-old driver of the car, also from Zephyrills, sustained minor injuries.
