
SARASOTA COUNTY, FL – State troopers are investigating a fatal car accident that took place on Interstate 75 in Sarasota County Monday morning.
According to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, the driver of an Acura sedan ran off the road at about 10 a.m. while going north on I-75, a few miles south of Clark Road. The car went onto a shoulder of the highway and overturned several times, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
A female passenger in the car was declared dead at the scene. She was a 20-year-old Sarasota resident whose name has not been released. The driver, a 20-year-old Osprey man, was seriously injured and taken to an area hospital.
