
DUNEDIN, FL – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Friday night while walking on a roadway in Pinellas County, reports IONTB.
State troopers were on the scene on U.S. 19 near Curlew Road in Clearwater after the incident was reported at about 8:30 p.m. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the pedestrian was trying to walk across U.S. 19 westbound when he was hit by a southbound SUV. The victim, a 61-year-old man from Dunedin, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the SUV was a 17-year-old male from Palm Harbor. He and a 15-year-old passenger were not hurt.
The FHP is continuing to investigate the accident.
