
LACOOCHEE, FL – A pedestrian was killed on Friday night when he was struck by a pickup truck while pushing his bicycle on State Route 575.
According to Fox13 Tampa Bay , the collision occurred on the south shoulder of State Route 575 near Bower Road around 6 p.m.
The pickup driver, identified as a 44-year-old male, was traveling east on 575 when he lost control in a curve. He hit the 20-year-old male pedestrian, and then collided with a utility pole.
It was not reported whether the pickup driver sustained any injuries in the crash. The bicyclist was transported to a local hospital where he passed away due to his injuries.
