HOLIDAY, FL – Authorities say a man driving a pickup truck in the wrong direction was killed in a crash in Pasco County Tuesday morning, the Suncoast News reports.
The accident happened in the vicinity of Denton Avenue and Dane Lane near Holiday at about 5:42 a.m. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the 45-year-old pickup driver was driving east in the westbound lane of Denton Avenue.
A tractor-trailer driver who was also in the westbound lane tried to swerve to avoid the truck but the vehicles collided. The pickup driver was pronounced dead of his injuries at the scene. His identity has not yet been released.
The tractor-trailer was being driven by a 60-year-old Brooksville man. There was no immediate information on whether he was injured. It is not yet clear why the pickup driver was going the wrong way.
