
MANATEE COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating an accident that killed a pedestrian in Manatee County on Wednesday night.
According to WWSB, the incident occurred on U.S. 41 near the intersection with 69th Avenue West at about 10:50 p.m. State troopers said the victim was a 40-year-old man from Sarasota who was trying to cross U.S. 41 from east to west. An 80-year-old man from Sarasota was driving a sedan and approaching a green traffic light at the intersection when he struck the pedestrian, who sustained fatal injuries.
The identities of the driver and the victim were not immediately released.
