ST. PETERSBURG, FL – One driver was killed and another injured after their cars collided in St. Petersburg on Tuesday evening, police said.
In a news release, St. Petersburg police said the accident occurred in the area of 4th Avenue North and 49th Street at about 5:45 p.m. Investigators determined that 58-year-old Wayne Hoyle was driving a Toyota Camry westbound on 4th Avenue North when he failed to yield and crashed into a Cadillac that was headed north on 49th Street.
Hoyle, a St. Pete Beach resident, was pronounced dead at an area hospital. The other driver sustained injuries that were not life-threatening.
Police are continuing their investigation, and said that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
