ST. PETERSBURG, FL – An unlicensed 16-year-old crashed into a tree injuring himself and three other teenagers in the car on Tuesday evening.
According to local reporting, the multiple-injury crash happened at 7750 26th Avenue N around 10:52 p.m. The 2003 Mazda 6 hydroplaned and struck a tree as a result of the teenage driver speeding and driving reckless.
Local fire rescue crews reported the driver was crushed and pinned by the dashboard. He was freed by an extended extraction process, and sustained unknown injuries.
Another teenager, 16, was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg for critical injuries. Two other teenagers in the vehicle, 16 and 17, sustained minor injuries and were also taken to a hospital.
St. Petersburg Police reported no one in the car was a licensed driver.
