EAST LAKE, FL – According to WFLA, a man has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for fatally colliding with a Pinellas County deputy at Eastlake Rd and Forelock Rd on Feb. 17, 2021.
Robert Holzaepfel, 33, was allegedly intoxicated when he struck Deputy Michael Magli, 30, around 4:30 p.m. The collision pinned Magli under his vehicle. First responders pronounced Magli dead at the scene of the accident.
The judge sentenced Holzaepfel to 35 years in prison as part of a plea deal on Friday.
