Corey French, 30, was driving a pickup truck when he struck a Suv driven by Amber West, 35, as she attempted to turn onto US 19 from Berkeley Manor Blvd. The collision caused a chain reaction that involved two additional vehicles.
West and her six-month-old son died in the incident. French was taken to an area hospital and was arrested when he was released for violating an injunction and for possession of a firearm. Charges related to the crash are still pending.
