LAKELAND, FL – A woman was arrested on a DUI charge after authorities say she drove off the road and crashed in Lakeland late Tuesday night.
Fox 13 News reports 35-year-old Brittney Medina was driving a Kia Sorrento in the area of Clubhouse Road and Live Oak Road when the accident occurred at about 11 p.m. According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, she crashed through a fence before the vehicle came to rest in a homeowner’s backyard.
Medina and a child who was with her in the vehicle were not injured. The sheriff’s office said Medina failed a field sobriety test and said her blood alcohol level was over the legal limit.
She was charged with DUI with property damage and child abuse. The sheriff’s office said Medina is employed at Lakeland Christian School as an attendance counselor.
