ST. PETERSBURG, FL – Authorities say a woman was driving under the influence when she crashed in St. Petersburg Tuesday night and seriously injured a 3-year-old child riding in her vehicle.
According to Fox 13 News, 47-year-old Trisha Dale of St. Petersburg was driving on Interstate 275 south when the accident occurred near the exit for 54th Avenue at about 7:15 p.m. The Florida Highway Patrol said Dale swerved and went off the roadway, crashing into a light pole and a guardrail. The vehicle continued rotating and struck the guardrail again.
Dale now faces numerous criminal charges, including DUI with serious injury, child neglect, and possession of cocaine. She was also cited for not using a child seat and careless driving, the FHP said.
