HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL – State troopers say a passenger was killed in a collision between two cars in Hillsborough County Tuesday afternoon, reports WTSP.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a 24-year-old Tampa woman was at a stop sign on Lazy Lane and made a turn onto Dale Mabry Highway.  Her vehicle was struck by an oncoming car driven a 34-year-old Tampa woman at about 4:12 p.m.

A 54-year-old woman who was a passenger in the first car was ejected and sustained fatal injuries, the FHP said. The victim, a Tampa resident whose name was not released, was not wearing a seat belt at the time.

The southbound lanes of Dale Mabry Highway were closed for several hours while the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office investigated the crash.
